Boombozz Pizza history dates back to 1998 when Tony Palombino decided to combine his personal recipes and flair with everything he had learned from his family. His idea was to combine one small pizza oven and a lot of hard work to create gourmet pizzas with premium ingredients. He’s always worked on the premise that if you try the pizza just once, you’ll love it and keep coming back for more.

From the very beginning, Tony was involved in every aspect of the business. You could find him doing everything from cooking and delivering to working the register and coming up with wild marketing ideas. His continued hard work always pushes for only one goal: Make the best pizzas he possibly can and do right by the customer. The name “Boombozz” comes from Italian slang and means wild, crazy, and fun. Tony puts these ideas at the front of everything he does. The result is the totally unique flavor of a Boombozz pizza, and the fun atmosphere of a Boombozz Taphouse restaurant.

Over 30 years ago, Curt Jones, forever transformed the way we eat ice cream. After experimenting and perfecting the marriage of liquid nitrogen and ice cream in his kitchen, his family opened the first Dippin’ Dots store in Lexington Kentucky. Over the past decades, the Jones family has done more than build a brand; they have touched hearts and created memories, all through something that people are passionate about enjoying and sharing. The Charcoal Cowboys entered their first BBQ contest back in 2007 and that’s all it took, they were hooked. They spent the next 10 years competing on the BBQ Circuit accumulating their fair share of awards and trophies along the way.

But it was that first perfect score in the Brisket category that really took it to the next level. That perfect score lead to 3 appearances on the TV show BBQ Pitmasters where they won the Memphis Challenge and finished in the top 5 overall in Season 6. They were invited back the next year to compete in the BBQ Pitmasters All-Stars season. The perfect brisket score was subsequently followed by a perfect score in pork and then a perfect score in ribs.

At that point there was only one thing left to do, quit talking about it and do it. So the dream of opening a place where they could share this passion with the public became a reality. They are proud to be able to share their passion for BBQ with each of their customers. The Charcoal Cowboys will work hard every day to ensure that each customer will have an opportunity to be served the perfect bite.
